The Evaluator Manual provides regulation interpretations and procedures directly from DSS. This is one of the best ways to get written clarification on how regulations should be interpreted and followed.
According to the DSS website:
"Regulation Interpretations and Procedures, are developed as a result of suggestions from field staff, requests for further clarification of the regulations or to put out advance information regarding changes in statute that will later result in changes in the regulations. They can NOT be used to cite deficiencies of regulations but are designed to provide Community Care Licensing Division's procedures, clarification and interpretations of the regulations for review and as a resource.
"There are 'Regulation Interpretations and Procedures' for most of the categories, that Community Care Licensing Division licenses and they will always correspond with a section number of the regulations. When new information is issued these 'pages' will be updated as soon as the information is released. The latest updates in the text are highlighted."
